[Cosworth]
"Here they come...! Those are the legendary immortal knights!"
"Too fast! There's no way cannon fire can stop them!"
The moment the silver knights appeared, panic spread rapidly across the top of the walls. Looking at the knights again, it was clear why. A giant-like figure, towering over the others in full silver armor, darted across the battlefield with a speed that could only be described as supernatural. Furthermore, with a sword as long as their height, they sent multiple enemies flying with a single strike. Anyone who saw these knights on the battlefield, especially those already battle-hardened, would be crushed in the face of such overwhelming force.
For us, it would be like witnessing a mythical hero in action. But for the enemy, seeing this was like witnessing the summoning of a demon.
Of course, the artillery crews immediately aimed at the knights as they displayed their unbelievable agility. However, it was all part of the plan to keep the enemy distracted.
"You fools! I didn't issue any orders! Focus the three central cannons on the knights! The rest should focus on the enemy’s ballista-equipped wagons or magic users! Understand?!"
I bellowed, and the artillery crews snapped out of their shock, finally refocusing.
"Don’t let them get close to the walls! Destroy their long-range weapons first!"
I made sure to issue clear, concise orders. The artillery crews, as well as the archers, immediately began adjusting their positions for countermeasures.
Meanwhile, the two knights continued to move with astonishing speed, closing the distance towards us. The three cannons kept targeting them, but their speed made it clear that hitting them was nearly impossible.
"Cosworth-sama! The knights are nearly at the walls! They don't have any siege weapons, but their superhuman strength will definitely be a threat!"
One of the knights reported, clearly flustered. Of course, I was well aware of the situation. That was why I had made preparations to counter this very threat.
"Heavy infantry, forward!"
I ordered, and the infantry that had been waiting further back quickly swapped places with the front-line archers.
"Now is the time for a counterattack! Deploy the black powder balls and oil jars!"
"Yes, sir!"
At my command, over two hundred infantry soldiers threw black powder balls and oil-filled jars toward the base of the walls.
Seconds later, the black powder balls exploded, sending shockwaves through the walls. Fire from the oil spread upward, reaching the height of the walls, creating pillars of flame that resembled a blazing wall. The sheer power of this fire would be impossible to replicate even with ten fire mages working together.
The explosion and flames were so intense that even some of the infantry who had launched the black powder balls stumbled from the shock.
"Artillery and archers! Don’t falter—prepare for another round of attacks! If the enemy doesn’t get closer, return to long-range fire! Focus on any ballistas and prioritize any cavalry in sight!"
I quickly gave new orders to keep the momentum going. The troops responded and resumed their assault.
The enemy had clearly been caught off guard by the explosion. Many of them showed signs of hesitation, slowing down or faltering.
This was the perfect opportunity.
Now, it was time to make sure that both the Scuderia Kingdom and the Shelvia realized the true power of the Yellenetta Kingdom.
[Van]
It was like watching a carpet bombing—massive explosions erupted in front of the walls. Shortly after, a massive wall of fire spread across the battlefield.
"W-what is that...?!"
Someone shouted in astonishment. This was no ordinary explosion; it was on a scale that even those unfamiliar with modern warfare would have difficulty processing.
To be honest, I had only seen such scenes in war movies, but with my prior knowledge, I was a bit better prepared to handle the shock.
Because of that, I was able to react faster than anyone else.
"…! Quickly, position the armored wagons in defense mode! The enemy's attack came right in front of the walls! We need to fight back from the farthest possible range to avoid unnecessary retaliation!"
I shouted loudly, realizing that the situation had shifted drastically in favor of the enemy. Their unexpected actions had put our forces into a state of panic, and the Yellenetta and Shelvia forces would undoubtedly take advantage of this.
Standing idly by without a plan was the worst option.
"Arte! Can the puppets move?"
The key now was to use Arte's puppets, one of our strongest assets. As I looked back, I saw Arte trembling, clearly shaken.
"Arte?"
I called her name again, and she snapped to attention, immediately standing up.
"S-Sorry...! I’ll move them right away!"
Without waiting for additional instructions, Arte immediately began using her magic again. The puppets were ready to move.
"Alright, if you can, can you force open the gates?"
I asked again. Arte nodded silently, without a word.
Then, as the fire and black smoke still swirled around the walls, something changed. The castle gates began to collapse, likely from Arte's puppets using their swords to force them open. The enemy had no idea what had happened, their confusion evident.
"The gates! They’re open!"
Kamshin shouted, and at the same time, cheers erupted from every corner of our forces.
Now was the time to strike.
"Go! Take the enemy fortress! Ballista team, provide support!"
Panamera shouted from the frontlines, and she herself led the charge.
Of course, the enemy would not simply wait idly. The cannon and a large number of arrows flew toward us. A terrifying barrage of arrows rained down on Panamera and her forces.
However, this was nothing to Panamera. She had already been casting magic to deal with the arrows. As she shouted and cast her spell, a wall of flames appeared in the air, consuming every arrow that came near.
The magic was terrifyingly wide-ranging, burning all the arrows in its path.
"Charge!"
With her sword raised high, Panamera shouted again as she urged her horse forward, moving confidently toward the flames she had summoned. The momentum of her charge was so strong that it felt like the battle was already decided.
