"Eh? You want the strength of this village?"
That day, I received an inquiry from some adventurers.
"Yes. Actually, we've been active in the Spel Kingdom for a little while, but there's a place that's just too difficult to conquer. The adventurers, of course, and even the knights are unable to do anything, and the local people have been spending sleepless nights."
Actually, they said that they are an adventurer party formed in this village. However, recently, through their activities as adventurers, they wanted to help those in need, so they left the village in search of new opportunities.
Amazing. How admirable.
Indeed, this village has dungeons and magic forests, and it is the best environment for adventurers if they just want to earn money. But, no one is ever asking adventurers to help when it comes to pressing situations like monsters ruining fields or goblins making nests.
"Even if the reward is small, I wanted to do something for the people," said one of the adventurers.
"Yeah, that's not something just anyone can do," I replied.
"(In reality, though, we're actually a group of missionaries disguised as adventurers! Helping the troubled people and receiving their gratitude, and then saying, 'It’s all thanks to Lord Luke!' and gaining more followers! That’s the strategy of the Holy Mother, Millia!)"
"Hm? What's wrong?"
"No, nothing at all!"
They are quite skilled, and they’ve been doing great in their new endeavors. However, there are still issues that even they find difficult to resolve.
"There’s a city that has been taken over by high-level undead."
"Eh? You want to defeat those high-level undead?"
"We can't be sure we can defeat them, but we intend to try. However, since it's an issue within the Spel Kingdom, we thought we should get permission before proceeding."
"Please, go ahead! Recently, the undead have been expanding their domain, and I've been troubled by it!"
Just to be safe, I went to greet the King of Spel Kingdom, and he gave his approval without hesitation. I had previously been invited by him, so I was already acquainted with the King. This audience was also granted smoothly.
And so, we head toward our destination. From the royal capital, we traveled northward, in the opposite direction of the Mediterranean, using the flying park for a while.
The city was located not far from the border with the Loda Kingdom.
"Once, it was one of the most prosperous cities in the kingdom, but now the entire area has become a nest of undead and a magic forest."
The leader of the adventurer party, Vegalen-san, explains this.
"It’s really dark here. It’s still midday, though."
"Since the undead took control, this area has been unable to see the sun. So, whether it’s day or night, the undead are wandering around."
Looking down at the ground, I could indeed see the shadows moving here and there. Had we been approaching the city from the ground, we would have ended up fighting a horde of undead.
It makes sense that even the kingdom's knights gave up trying to conquer this magic forest.
"Let’s directly land in the city from the sky."
"Where exactly are these undead?"
"Hm, somehow, that castle seems suspicious..."
This undead extermination mission involves familiar members such as Selen, Philia-san, Selius-kun, Gori-chan, Noel-kun, as well as adventurers like Alex-san and his party.
Alex-san’s party, 'Crimson Lotus,' has a member, Gai-san, who uses light-based magic effective against undead. We asked them to lend us their power.
Additionally, both Akane-san and Queen Maribel were participating, per their personal request. And, by the way, Ganzasu-san and Kasim are also here.
"Well, Ganzasu, I understand, but Kasim, why are you here?!"
"Queen Maribel, I want to help you!"
"Stop calling me that! When you say that, it makes me itch all over...!"
Kashim is the real brother of Queen Maribel.
He was a traitor who once took the kingdom from the queen, but now he has reformed and works as a village guard with former thieves. By the way, he possesses the gift of 'Dark Sword Techniques.'
"By the way, Akane-san, are you okay? You’ve been looking pale since earlier."
"I-I’m fine, really! Hahaha, it’s not like I’m scared of the undead or anything!"
I bet she’s afraid of undead... Even though I told her beforehand, why did she still want to join...?
